Well, I guess first I should explain the name of my business. Since I was a baby, my family and loved ones gave me the nickname "Boo". It stuck and that is still my name; but you can also call me Becky. 🙂

With my business concept being based on dessert bites, the alliteration just made sense.

Growing up, I always loved to cook and bake with my family, and my time in the kitchen with them created a love for food and culture. I have always been the type of person who sets extremely high standards for my work and self, and that is a standard I still strive for today. Perfection, creativity, and love.

The love led me to attend The Culinary Institute of America to get an AOS in Baking and Pastry Arts and two BBA's in Hospitality Management and Applied Sustainable Food Systems Studies. My time there opened so many doors; I had the opportunity to work in pastry kitchens at The Walt Disney World Resort, a farm in Napa Valley, experience wineries and kitchens through northern Italy, and a major hotel on Long Island.

 

I wanted to continue growing, learning, and keeping my passion of food alive; but for personal reasons had to step out of the professional kitchen setting and begin exploring other paths. That led me to pursue an MSNE (Master's of Science in Public Health and Nutritional Education) from American University. That love of baking hasn't gone away, and that led me to continue practicing my art through my small business.
